Thick and Chunky - One side of Madside
Category: Music
Well, it is a crazy Thursday and good ol' Dr. Pete is sitting at a Southwest terminal in Sacramento waiting for my flight down to LA. I am really not excited to fly down for a couple hours and then come right back up…the peanuts aren't that good – although I may have a couple extra drink tix…hmmmm.
I have my lap-top open and headphones on taking a gander at this new song by Redding's own Madside, when this woman that probably leans north of three bills walk past me stuffed not so subtly in spandex. Now, I am a fan of a girl with a thick backside…but this lady is a little much.
The funny part is that it gave me the words to describe "Something to Say" by the Madside boys – super thick and chunky. The song was recorded and produced at RadioStar Studios in Weed, CA…yes I am serious there is a town in CA called Weed.
Anyway, the song is a good effort with some fantastic thickness punctuated by Madside's thundering rhythm section. I like the flow of the song…especially the breaks and changes in tempo. Those elements really add uniqueness to the song; something that many bands tend to forget.
All in all the song is solid and very worthy of a few listens. I have to say my fave Madside song is still "Enemy" …but "Something to Say" is earning a close second.
Peace, Dr. Pete
